Job summary

Layton Construction seeks an Assistant Project Manager to assist in planning, managing, and executing commercial construction projects. You may handle multiple projects, ensuring quality, owner satisfaction, and profitability while fostering customer relationships.

Relocation to the project site is required as projects are managed on-site. You will help prepare budgets, schedules, subcontracts, and project plans, mentoring team members and coordinating with engineers and owners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, preferably in light industrial/cold storage.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; strong problem solving and organizational abilities.
• Understands building codes, reads blueprints, and applies construction practices correctly.
• Professional affiliations (e.g., AGC) or credentials (e.g., PE) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning, management, and execution of construction projects.
• Manages project budgets, schedules, and profitability.
• Promotes Layton values and trains project personnel.
• Coordinates pre-construction planning and subcontractor negotiations.
• Develops project management plans and facilitates execution of contracts.
• Reviews plans/specifications for completeness and consistency.
• Assists owner with permits and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains owner relationships and project documentation.
• Mentors project and field engineers and ensures submittal timely processing.
• Updates software for collaboration, quality, and document management.
