Job summary

River-Crossing-Ymca in Newtown, PA is seeking an assistant teacher who is passionate about childhood education and community involvement. This full-time hourly position offers a schedule from Monday to Friday with shifts around 8:00am–4:30pm, with an alternate 8:15am–4:45pm option, and a pay rate of $16.00–$17.00 per hour.

You will help create engaging learning experiences for children and support the team in delivering a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity
• High school diploma required
• Associate/Bachelor degree or college credits in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or human services preferred
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn
• Being patient and kind with our parents
• Cultivating and fostering a safe and nurturing environment that will encourage physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children in the program
• Adjusting curriculum to ensure that all children meet the learning objectives
• Utilizing state and YMCA guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of the children

What is needed for this job

• Are 21+ and have 2+ years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity


• High school diploma


• Associate/Bachelor degree or college credits from an accredited college or university in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field preferred


• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment


• Ability to pass all relevant clearances
