Job summary

Playa Bowls is seeking a proactive Assistant Manager in New Jersey to support daily shop operations, mentor staff, and enhance guest experiences. You will work closely with the General Manager, ensuring quality, training, scheduling, and compliance across the store.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, staff development, and efficient operation, with responsibilities spanning inventory, POS use, and safety adherence. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a fast-paced food service or retail environment.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Strong customer service skills, with a passion for creating positive guest experiences.
• Working knowledge of supply chain and inventory processes.
• Familiarity with personnel management and basic human resources responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and active listening skills.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Must pass the ServSafe certification within 3 months of employment.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
• Must be available to work weekends.
• Must be able to lift or move 25-40 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Checks product quality and consistency; resolves quality complaints.
• Preps and serves food and drinks; maintains service areas.
• Schedules staff hours and assigns duties for efficient operations.
• Organizes staff training and evaluates performance.
• Recruits new hires using company methods (ADP WFN, ads, job fairs).
• Fills in for General Manager during extended absences.
• Reviews procedures to improve service, performance, and safety.
• Manages deliveries, inventories, and records.
• Operates POS and handles cash deposits.
• Maintains health, fire, and safety compliance.
• Ensures opening/closing procedures and records are kept.
• Procures product, equipment, and supplies; coordinates maintenance.
• External and internal relationships: vendors, guests, team members.
• Measures of success: quality, team development, compliance, continuity, inventory management.
