Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking a skilled administrator to manage large, complex projects and grant activities. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, writing sponsor documents, and leading coordinators and staff across departments.

Preferred candidates hold SOCRA/ACRP/NCURA certifications and may have NIH post-award experience, with bilingual English/Spanish abilities valued in our diverse health-sciences environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus three years of related experience, or equivalent combination, to meet minimum requirements.
  • Preferred: SOCRA, ACRP, or NCURA certifications; bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with NIH post-award processes, RPPRs, and no-cost extensions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Write grant sections, regulatory documents, and sponsor reports.
  • Supervise coordinators, research assistants, and student staff.
  • Coordinate across departments and community partners.
  • Monitor federal research regulations and human subjects protections.
  • Prepare IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews.
  • Develop extramural grant submissions including budgets and biosketches.
  • Manage study timelines, recruitment, and progress reporting across projects.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description

Performs varied and complex administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large specialized project and/or program. Requires independent judgment and application of established policies and procedures. Works under general supervision with evaluation based on overall results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Creation ofPI's scientific aims into operational plans, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Writinggrant sections, regulatory documents, and reports to sponsors and leadership.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate coordinators, research assistants, and student staff.
  • Utilization of sound judgment in handling protocol deviations, adverse events, and confidentiality issues.
  • Work across departments and institutions and with community partners.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and data or project management toolswith statistical software (SPSS, R, or SAS).
  • Assist in the oversight of federal research regulations and human subjects protections (45 CFR 46, Good Clinical Practice, HIPAA),preparing IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews.
  • Create extramural grant submissions, preferably NIH, including budgets, bio sketches, letters of support, and required forms.
  • Manage study timelines, recruitment and retention targets, and progress reporting across concurrent projects. Proficiency with REDCap or a comparable electronic data capture system
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field plus three years of related administrative and technical experience OR a combination of education and/or years of experience in the area of specialization or closely related field to equal a minimum of 7 years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification from SOCRA, ACRP, or NCURA (e.g., CCRP, CCRC, CRA) • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Master's degree in public health, psychology, gerontology, neuroscience, health sciences, research administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with research involving older adults, people living with dementia, or family caregivers.
  • Familiarity with NIH post-award processes: RPPRs, Just-in-Time submissions, subaward management, effort reporting, and no-cost extensions.
  • Experience with community-engaged or rural health research, including recruitment in underserved populations. Experience coordinating neuroimaging (e.g., MRI/fMRI) or biomarker studies.
  • Certification from SOCRA, ACRP, or NCURA (e.g., CCRP, CCRC, CRA) • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
