Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center seeks an experienced research program administrator to manage large projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.

You will convert aims into SOPs, write grant sections and reports, supervise staff, and oversee IRB submissions. Proficiency with REDCap and MS Office is expected, with strong collaboration across departments and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field with at least three years of related admin/technical experience, or a combined total of seven years in the area.
  • Experience with grant writing and regulatory documentation is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience of coordinators, research assistants, and student staff is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create PI aims into operational plans, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Write grant sections, regulatory documents, and reports to sponsors and leadership.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate coordinators, research assistants, and student staff.
  • Ensure protocol deviations, adverse events, and confidentiality are handled properly.

  • Oversee federal research regulations and human subjects protections (45 CFR 46).
  • Create extramural grant submissions, preferably NIH, including budgets and biosketches.
  • Manage study timelines, recruitment targets, and progress reporting across projects.

Visa Information

Position Description

Performs varied and complex administrative duties in the managementand coordination of a large specialized project and/or program.Requires independent judgment and application of establishedpolicies and procedures. Works under general supervision withevaluation based on overall results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Creation of PI's scientific aims into operational plans, SOPs,and training materials.
  • Writing grant sections, regulatory documents, and reports tosponsors and leadership.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate coordinators, researchassistants, and student staff.
  • Utilization of sound judgment in handling protocol deviations,adverse events, and confidentiality issues.
  • Work across departments and institutions and with communitypartners.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and data or project management toolswith statistical software (SPSS, R, or SAS).
  • Assist in the oversight of federal research regulations andhuman subjects protections (45 CFR 46, Good Clinical Practice,HIPAA), preparing IRB submissions, amendments, and continuingreviews.
  • Create extramural grant submissions, preferably NIH, includingbudgets, bio sketches, letters of support, and required forms.
  • Manage study timelines, recruitment and retention targets, andprogress reporting across concurrent projects. Proficiency withREDCap or a comparable electronic data capture system
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely relatedfield plus three years of related administrative and technicalexperience OR a combination of education and/or years of experiencein the area of specialization or closely related field to equal aminimum of 7 years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification from SOCRA, ACRP, or NCURA (e.g., CCRP, CCRC,CRA) Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Master's degree in public health, psychology, gerontology, neuroscience, health sciences, research administration, or arelated field.
  • Experience with research involving older adults, people livingwith dementia, or family caregivers.
  • Familiarity with NIH post-award processes: RPPRs, Just-in-Timesubmissions, subaward management, effort reporting, and no-costextensions.
  • Experience with community-engaged or rural health research,including recruitment in underserved populations. Experiencecoordinating neuroimaging (e.g., MRI/fMRI) or biomarkerstudies.
  • Certification from SOCRA, ACRP, or NCURA (e.g., CCRP, CCRC,CRA) Bilingual in English and Spanish.
