Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services seeks a Program Director for After School to lead the COMPASS program at PS 149. The role requires hands-on leadership, staff supervision, and collaboration with DOE, DYCD, and community partners to deliver high-quality after-school services.

You will oversee program delivery, staffing, and reporting while advancing educational and recreational activities for youth and families in support of contract obligations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with strong management and youth development experience.
• Must be eligible for SACC certification.
• Experience in education and/or after school programming.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience working with government contracts and nonprofit social services.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and coverage for direct reports: Assistant Director, Teachers, and Assistant Teachers.
• Provide on-site coverage for staff when needed.
• Oversee day-to-day activities/events of the afterschool site.
• Overall responsibility for program implementation, including hiring staff.
• Develop educational and recreational programming in line with DYCD/DOH guidelines.
• Ensure contract compliance and reporting in collaboration with DOE and DYCD.
• Coordinate and attend PTA, BRT, and SLT meetings.
• Recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling and payroll for afterschool staff.
• Develop staff professional development workshops responsive to youth and community needs.
• Participate in cross-agency groups to achieve agency goals.
