Job summary

Police Athletic League (PAL) seeks an Assistant Director to supervise on-site youth programming across PAL sites, including school and community centers. You will work with youth, parents, schools, and partners to implement SEL, mental health, and inclusion practices.

The role requires leadership in program management, staff supervision, and collaboration with NYPD, DYCD, DOH, and NYCPS. Schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends, with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Associate's in child development or related field or NYS credential/2+ years in youth programming work.
• Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership in program management with youth.
• Strong planning, implementation, or evaluation skills for programs.
• Knowledge of DYCD Connect preferred; willingness to learn mental health, SEL, and inclusion skills.

Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional competencies and mental and physical well-being in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Oversee PAL afterschool programming and inclusion coordination; identify resources for youth with special needs.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise part-time staff and specialists.
• Ensure alignment with PAL policies, SACC regulations, and government/private funding requirements.
• Develop Youth Development culture and coach across programs.
• Coordinate with site leadership to grow creative programming opportunities.
• Collect program data and provide data-driven recommendations.
