The Information Technology Services Centre is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join its networking team as an Assistant Computer Officer. This position supports the planning, operation, and continuous improvement of the University’s campus network infrastructure, covering data, voice, wireless, and network security services.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) conducting regular reviews and analyses of network performance; (b) preparing project progress reports and documentation; (c) supporting a wide range of data and voice networking equipment and systems; and (d) assisting in product evaluation, tendering processes, network development initiatives, and internal staff training. 24-hour on-call support and occasional work outside regular office hours may be required.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Information Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline; (ii) at least 2 years’ relevant work experience in networking or a related field; (iii) strong communication and interpersonal skills; and (iv) proficiency in spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Having knowledge of or experience in the following areas is an advantage: (1) Wi-Fi networks and Internet of Things (IoT); (2) Internet routing and software-defined networking (SDN); (3) IP telephony and network security, such as firewall setup; (4) AI-assisted programming and tools for internal network automation and monitoring; (5) structured cabling systems and the OSI 7-layer model; and (6) ITIL concepts.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
