Job summary

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) invites applications for an Assistant Manager (OSI) in the Office of Strategic Initiatives. This full-time non-academic role supports strategic initiatives, including executive education, international collaborations, and development of short programmes.

Applicants should have a recognized degree and at least two years of relevant experience, with strong organization, communication, and ICT skills. Closing date: 07/Sep/2026.

Qualifications

  • Possess a recognized degree and at least two years of relevant post-qualification work experience; prior experience in tertiary education institutions would be an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with internal and external parties at all levels.
  • Strong written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support in development and delivery of executive education programmes and short programmes (study tours and summer/winter schools), including recruitment, enrolment, and meeting secretarial support.
  • Assist in event logistics, membership systems, and daily operations for executive education and short programmes.
  • Support programme promotion and participant communications, fostering community among students, alumni, industry and academic partners.
  • Facilitate communications with internal units and external stakeholders in planning, development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President of the Office of Strategic Initiatives, the appointee will be part of a team supporting strategic initiatives of the University, including its advancement as a University of Applied Sciences (UAS), the expansion of strategic collaborations in the Chinese Mainland and internationally, as well as the development of executive education programmes. The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Providing administrative support in the development and delivery of executive education programmes and short programmes (study tours and summer/winter schools), managing tasks such as recruitment, enrolment, and providing secretarial support for meetings;

  • Assisting in the planning and execution of event logistics, membership systems, as well as other daily operations and tasks for the administration of executive education and short programmes;

  • Supporting programme promotion and participant communications, including facilitating community building and engagement among students, alumni, as well as industry and academic partners;

  • Facilitating the Office’s communications with both internal units and external stakeholders in the planning, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives; and

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • Possess a recognized degree and at least two years of relevant post-qualification work experience; prior experience in tertiary education institutions would be an advantage;

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively;

  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with internal and external parties at all levels;

  • An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua; and

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel and English and Chinese word processing.

Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.
