Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking an Assistant Closing Manager to lead the club’s closing operations, oversee Recovery/Utility/Perishable departments, and ensure a safe, clean, and high-service environment for Members. This role involves leadership, training, and ensuring policy compliance during closing shifts.

The position requires ServSafe certification, 2 years in retail/perishable operations, and 18+ age with open-availability for shifts. BJ’s offers broad benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in retail, supermarket, or warehouse perishable operations preferred.
• Experience in managing inventory turnover and waste reduction strategies.
• SERV Safe certification required.
• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Email) required.
• Open shift availability required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Recovery, Utility, and Perishable departments (Produce, Meat, Bakery, Deli, Dairy/Freezer) and overnight prep.
• Lead by presence during closing hours and engage with Members.
• Guarantee GOLD Standards: GAA and FAST/Friendly/Full/Fresh/Clean; listen, apologize, solve, thank.
• Coach Recovery and utility clerks to enable efficient task execution and zone coverage.
• Ensure sanitation, safety checks, and daily cleaning are completed.
• Maintain equipment functionality and assist with training and certifications.
