Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX is seeking a Utilization specialist to support case management processes, obtain authorizations for ancillary services, and coordinate referrals and transitions for patients.

The role offers a full-time day schedule in an offsite facility with comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional development from Ascension.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent or 1 year of relevant experience.
• Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide various services supporting case management process.
• Obtain and record authorizations for ancillary services and denial reporting.
• Facilitate, identify and document all referrals, along with patient choice, to appropriate facilities or agencies.
• Expedite discharges by transmitting appropriate documentation to providers for acceptance of patient.
• Document all interactions with payers and communicates status with appropriate staff.
• Communicate status with case management staff and arranges for patient transfer.
• Function as a key point of contact between case management staff, admissions and payers.
