Job summary

Macy's is hiring an Asset Protection Captain to lead store Asset Protection efforts, coaching colleagues in detecting, preventing, and responding to theft and safety incidents. The role protects assets, reduces risk, and supports store profitability while ensuring a safe shopping environment for customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities include supervising investigations, collaborating with store leadership and law enforcement, and ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience training, coaching, or supervising others in retail security or asset protection.
• Ability to identify, investigate, and respond to theft, fraud, safety, and policy incidents.
• Knowledge of policies and legal requirements related to apprehensions, searches, seizures, and evidence preservation.
• Must complete required security training and hold certifications required by law.
• Ability to apprehend shoplifters in a retail environment.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality; perform other duties as needed.
• For New York, current NYS Security Guard License is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach Asset Protection colleagues in theft prevention, investigations, and apprehensions.
• Partner with store leadership to maintain a safe, secure, customer-focused environment.
• Use surveillance, alarms, reporting, and systems to monitor activity and document incidents.
• Respond to incidents, including first aid, safety concerns, and potential liability matters.
• Create clear, timely incident reports and support investigations and audits.
