Job summary

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection seeks a Construction Project Manager III to oversee the Technical Review Unit of the Asbestos Control Program, supervising reviewers, managing the asbestos project application process and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will conduct pre-abatement and active abatement inspections, prepare inspection reports, review lab data, testify as needed, and act as an emergency responder for asbestos incidents, coordinating with agencies to

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma and five years of construction project management or inspection experience.
• Alternatively, one year of experience plus a Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction-related fields.
• Higher credentials (PE/RA) or combined education/experience may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the ACP Technical Review Unit's technical review and approval process.
• Conduct inspections for pre-abatement and active asbestos work.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, collect samples, and interpret lab data.
• Provide testimony at hearings and participate in inter-agency meetings.
• Serve as emergency responder during asbestos incidents.
