Job summary

Save-A-Lot is seeking a Meat Cutter to support the meat department in Jacksonville, FL. You will trim and prepare standard cuts, label products, and ensure cold chain and quality standards are maintained to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.

You will follow the meat merchandising plan, work under Store Manager guidance, and deliver excellent service daily. Training is provided within 3 months, with emphasis on safety, sanitation, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of Save-A-Lot Meat Cutter Training Program within 3 months
• Previous experience cutting meat with hand tools and power equipment such as knives, slicers, grinders, cubing machine and power saw preferred
• Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent customer service

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager
• Cuts and/or packages authorized beef, pork and poultry items according to Save-A-Lot policies and procedures
• Wraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat
• Labels packages according to COOL, USDA and Save-A-Lot standards
• Ensures displays and case signs are updated and meat is merchandised to maximize sales
• Maintains proper date rotation for dated and undated products
• Prepares meat cuts and products for display to look attractive
• Receives, inspects and stores meat while maintaining cold chain
