Job summary

Save-A-Lot is seeking a Meat Cutter to ensure the meat department operates to company standards, drives sales, and maintains the cold chain and product quality. You will trim and prepare standard cuts, wrap, label, and price merchandise, and help with product ordering and display to attract customers.

You must be 18+, have a High School diploma or equivalent, and complete the Save-A-Lot Meat Cutter Training Program within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Save-A-Lot Meat Cutter Training Program within 3 months.
• Previous experience cutting meat including using hand tools and power equipment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills.
• Must be dependable and flexible.
• Must adhere to uniform dress code.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
• Cuts and/or packages authorized beef, pork and poultry items according to Save-A-Lot policies using knives and power equipment.
• Wraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat.
• Labels packages according to COOL, USDA and Save-A-Lot standards.
• Ensures meat is merchandised and presented to maximize sales; may assist with product ordering.
• Maintains proper date rotation for products per policy in display case and storage cooler.
• Prepares and places meat cuts in display counter according to policy so they appear attractive to customers.
• Receives, inspects, and stores meat upon delivery to maintain cold chain.
• Ensures sanitation and quality standards are met daily per policy.
• Follows all SAVE-A-LOT policies and procedures (COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, etc.).
• Responsibilities may include other perishable and non-perishable duties to maintain store performance.
• Protect company property, funds and merchandise at all times.
• May be assigned to work in more than one store.
