Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained handheld 3D scanning technician to capture data on active construction sites and plants. You will operate Artec handheld scanners, process data, and deliver scan-to-CAD files and reports to clients.

Must be able to travel regionally and work outdoors, with a valid driver’s license. You will work with Artec Studio and CAD tools to generate meshes, texture, and deviation maps, ensuring data integrity on site and in the office.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable record.
• Able to travel and fly with equipment as assigned.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD, Geomagic Design X, or metrology reporting is a plus.
• ACI, NICET, or ICC certifications a plus and sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and fit-up checks or hand-clean meshes for modeling team.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized.
