GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store and overall store operations when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, ensure a friendly shopping environment, and maintain proper merchandise presentation and cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

• Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
• Secure the building, including managing entry/exit controls, EAS devices, cash office security, and handling armored carrier pickups.
• Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
• Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
• Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms as needed.

Customer Service:

• Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
• Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism, recognizing associates' efforts.

Personal and Store Brand:

• Represent and support the company brand at all times.
• Maintain a professional appearance and ensure store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
• Responsible for daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

• Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
• Handle merchandise receiving, processing, and organization.
• Assist in merchandise delivery and placement on the sales floor.
• Secure and process back-stock according to policy.
• Maintain merchandising standards and reduce loss due to damage.
• Follow presentation guidelines and manage floor moves and signage.

Loss Prevention:

• Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong customer service presence, and safeguard confidential information.
• Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
• Execute company best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

• Ensure front end standards are met, manage lines, and expedite customer service.
• Train and coach associates on cash register operations and policies.
• Control break schedules, maintain equipment, and ensure merchandise salability.

Fitting Rooms:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
• Audit tags and ensure merchandise compliance.

Administrative Duties:

• Manage cash pulls, deposits, and payroll administration.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent verbal communication skills and fluency in English.
• Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems and basic math skills.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and use store equipment as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
