GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store and overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and maintain a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation and store cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

• Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
• Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash security, and alarm responses.
• Keep areas clear of clutter and ensure emergency exits are accessible.
• Protect customer safety through accident prevention and emergency procedures.
• Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.

Customer Service:

• Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
• Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness; recognize associates' contributions.

Personal and Store Brand:

• Represent and uphold the company brand at all times.
• Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates do the same.
• Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
• Handle daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

• Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow company standards.
• Manage merchandise receipt, processing, and organization.
• Assist with merchandising and back-stock management.
• Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.

Loss Prevention:

• Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong customer service presence, and engage with customers and associates to enhance security.
• Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
• Maintain PVM system and conduct inspections.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

• Ensure front-end procedures meet standards, manage lines, and expedite customer checkout.
• Train and coach associates on registers and policies.
• Control break schedules, equipment functionality, and supplies.

Fitting Rooms:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
• Audit tags and ensure merchandise is returned and processed correctly.

Administrative Duties:

• Handle cash pulls, deposits, and payroll-related tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

COMPETENCIES:

• Manage work processes, demonstrate business acumen, plan and prioritize.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Excellent verbal communication skills, fluency in English.
• Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems and basic math skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Must use store equipment, stand and walk up to 100%, and perform physical tasks including bending, lifting, and reaching.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail associates and stockroom leads (if applicable).
