GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the Store and the overall operations when acting as the Manager on Duty. They supervise Associates, open and close the Store, ensure merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean environment. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors in all tasks.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, and cash office security.
- Remove clutter, ensure clear emergency exits.
- Handle customer safety, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and Leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism; recognize Associates using company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure adherence to dress code.
- Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow standards; oversee merchandise receipt and processing.
- Manage stockroom organization and security.
- Assist in merchandise placement and back-stock management.
Loss Prevention
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a customer service presence, and engage with customers and staff to prevent theft.
- Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
Front End Supervision and Operations
- Ensure front-end standards, manage line pace, and train Associates on cash register operations.
Fitting Rooms
- Maintain cleanliness and audit garments in fitting rooms; ensure return compliance.
Administrative Duties
- Handle cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration as assigned.
Competencies
- Manage work processes, build talent, collaborate, communicate effectively, and ensure accountability.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems, basic math skills, availability for evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk extensively, and lift up to 25 lbs (or more for stockroom roles).
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
