GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a key member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They supervise Associates, open and close the store, and ensure a friendly, well-maintained shopping environment. They execute operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including managing entrances/exits, EAS devices, and security of the Cash Office and merchandise.
- Keep areas clear and accessible for emergencies.
- Ensure customer safety, accident prevention, and proper emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarms and respond to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness; recognize associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Uphold and support the Company brand.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to dress code.
- Keep the store clean, well-maintained, and properly merchandised.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure merchandise recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Receive merchandise, process shipments, and organize stockrooms.
- Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management.
- Reduce loss due to damage and ensure presentation guidelines are followed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.
- Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintain PVM systems and conduct package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Maximize productivity and ensure standards are met at the Front End.
- Manage checkout lines, train associates, and control equipment.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and security of fitting rooms.
- Ensure tags are audited and returned merchandise is properly processed.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, and payroll administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, lift over 25 lbs, and perform related physical tasks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
