GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a key member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific area of the store, overseeing general operations and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and keeping the store clean. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including managing entrances/exits, EAS devices, cash security, and alarm systems.
- Keep exits clear and remove clutter.
- Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates do the same.
- Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
- Receive merchandise trucks and process merchandise promptly.
- Manage inbound deliveries and organize stockrooms.
- Assist with merchandising, back stock, and loss reduction.
- Follow presentation guidelines and manage floor moves and signage.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and engage with customers and associates to prevent loss.
- Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintain PVM systems and conduct package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Implement best practices to maximize efficiency.
- Manage the line at the front to ensure quick checkout.
- Train and coach associates on register procedures and shortage policies.
- Control break schedules and ensure equipment is operational.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit garment tags and ensure merchandise is properly returned and tagged.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls and deposits following policy.
- Manage front-end controls, payroll, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication
- Fluency in English
- Customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 lbs. For stockroom shifts, ability to lift over 20 lbs. Ability to use janitorial and display equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
