GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the store and the overall operation when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing, supervise associates, maintain a friendly shopping environment, ensure merchandise presentation, and keep the store clean. They also execute operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

• Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
• Secure the building, including managing entry/exit, EAS devices, and cash/security areas.
• Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency exits.
• Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
• Test fire alarms and respond to alarms after hours.

Customer Service:

• Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
• Be courteous, friendly, and professional; recognize associates' contributions.

Personal and Store Brand:

• Represent and support the company brand.
• Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates adhere to dress code.
• Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
• Handle daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

• Complete recovery, sizing, and markdowns per standards.
• Manage merchandise receipt and processing with urgency.
• Ensure back-stock is secured and processed properly.
• Maintain merchandising standards, reduce loss, and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.

Loss Prevention:

• Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a visible presence, and engage customers and associates.
• Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information, and maintain PVM system.
• Conduct package inspections and execute best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

• Ensure front-end standards, manage line pace, and train associates on cash handling and procedures.
• Control break schedules, equipment, and supplies.
• Manage go-backs, signage, and merchandise salability.

Fitting Rooms:

• Maintain cleanliness and ensure tags are audited and merchandise returned properly.

Administrative Duties:

• Handle cash pulls, deposits, and control procedures.
• Manage payroll, scheduling, and other duties assigned by the store manager.

COMPETENCIES:

• Manage work processes, business acumen, planning, talent building, collaboration, leadership, communication, accountability, and execution.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Excellent verbal communication, fluency in English.
• Experience in customer service and supervision preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems, basic math skills.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

• Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and perform physical tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Retail associates, stockroom leads (if applicable).
