General Purpose:
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the store, general operations, and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and maintaining cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritizes safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe environment; reports unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, and handling armored carrier pickups.
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
- Handles customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
- Treats all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognizes associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance per dress code; ensures associates do the same.
- Keeps store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards; teaches, assigns, and follows up.
- Receives merchandise trucks as needed.
- Processes merchandise with urgency.
- Receives non-merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintains stockroom organization and cleanliness.
- Assists with merchandise delivery to the sales floor.
- Secures and processes back-stock according to policy.
- Merchandises department including back stock, reduces damage loss, and follows presentation guidelines.
- Manages floor moves and signage, including promotional signage.
- Performs re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follows Loss Prevention programs, maintains a customer service presence, and engages with customers and associates to prevent loss.
- Demonstrates integrity, safeguards confidential information, and maintains PVM system.
