Job summary

Meijer in Kentucky is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement, coaching, and area operations. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, manage budgeted P&L items, and oversee staffing, safety and process improvements to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 4+ years of retail leadership experience, with strong communication and financial analysis skills and a commitment to an inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.

• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Engages in candid discussions to ensure Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Accountability for area operations and financial results, overseeing plans to maximize sales and productivity and owning budget line items.
• Drives safety and compliance and manages store condition and procedures.
• Ensures Leaders provide daily guidance and assign work and training.
