Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team on-site at NSWC Dahlgren. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, tying test cases to requirements and collaborating with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

The role requires 2+ years in applied math/physics and 1+ years in software testing, with Linux experience and strong communication. U.S. citizenship and on-site work are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in applied math/physics supporting engineering projects.
• 1+ years software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with math/physics work.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to document and resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present testing documentation.
