Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM testing team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, tying cases to requirements and collaborating with developers and government customers.

The role requires 2+ years in applied math/physics, software testing, Linux experience, and strong communication. This is an on-site, full-time position with a secret clearance preference.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of applied mathematics or physics in engineering roles.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing or related education.
• Familiar with reviewing C++ code and Linux systems.
• Ability to trace requirements to test artifacts and report defects.
• Strong written and verbal communication for customer interaction.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write test plans, descriptions, and cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing at multiple levels.
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS and Jira.
• Identify, document, and track software defects with developers.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface with government customers daily; occasional technical presentations.
