Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join our SLBM team at NSWC Dahlgren Division in Dahlgren, VA. You will develop test plans, execute manual and automated tests, and collaborate with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

The ideal candidate has an applied math or physics degree with some coding, 1+ years of software/testing experience, proficiency in Linux and DOORS/Jira, and excellent communication skills for customer interactions. U.S.

Qualifications

• 2+ years professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
• 1+ years software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math/physics work.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
