Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. in Dahlgren, VA, is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team on-site at NSWCDD. The role entails designing automated tests, writing plans tied to requirements, and collaborating with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

Candidates should have a BS in Applied Math or Applied/Engineering Physics, 2+ years in applied math/physics, and 1+ years in software testing or related education. A Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or related education; can be concurrent with math/physics work.
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code and using Linux environments.
  • Strong requirements traceability and ability to document complex issues clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
  • Interface with government customers daily and present testing documentation as needed.
