Job summary

SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWC Dahlgren, VA. This full-time on-site role develops test plans, runs manual and automated tests, and collaborates with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

Required: 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ year in software testing, Linux proficiency, and familiarity with C++ review. US citizenship and on-site work five days weekly are expected.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience.
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code and using Linux systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements.
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
  • Interface with government customers daily and occasionally present testing documentation.
