Job summary

SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. This full-time, on-base role designs test plans, executes manual and automated tests, and resolves software defects with government customers.

B.S. in Applied Math or Applied/Engineering Physics required, plus 1+ year in software testing and coding exposure. Active Secret clearance and on-site work five days/week are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in engineering projects
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with math/physics work
• Familiarity with reviewing C++ code and Linux systems
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
• Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
• Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities
• Interface directly with government customers daily
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation
