Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. The role focuses on designing test plans, executing manual and automated testing, and collaborating with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

The ideal candidate has a BS in applied math or physics, 1+ years in software testing, and proficiency with Linux; US citizenship and on-site work are required. Expect 5 days/week on-site with active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code
• Experience using Linux systems
• Ability to document and help resolve complex software issues
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
• Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation
