Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD SLBM team at NSWC Dahlgren, VA. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, ensure requirements traceability, and collaborate with developers and government customers on defects.

The role requires a BS in applied math or physics, 1+ years of software/testing experience, and on-site work five days/week. US citizenship and active Secret clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math/physics.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface with government customers daily in a professional manner.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
