Job summary

SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD Dahlgren, VA team, focusing on automated and manual testing tied to requirements. The role involves collaboration with developers and government customers, with an Active Secret Clearance required.

On-site work five days a week is expected. BS in Applied Math or Engineering Physics is required; 2+ years in applied math/physics plus 1+ years in software testing are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of applied mathematics or applied physics experience in engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or related education.
• Familiarity with reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems and documenting defects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing across multiple levels (static to system).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS and Jira.
• Identify, document, and track software defects with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface professionally with government customers daily.
