Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWCDD, Dahlgren, VA. This full-time, on-site role develops test plans, executes manual and automated testing, and works with developers and government customers to resolve software defects.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in applied math or physics, 1+ year in software testing, familiarity with C++, Linux, and strong requirements traceability plus communication skills for customer interactions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math or applied physics experience.
• 1+ years of software testing or equivalent education.
• Familiarity with reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Strong requirements traceability skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write test plans, descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
