Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM testing team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. You will design and automate test scripts, execute diverse testing, and interface with government customers daily while supporting on-site operations five days a week.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ year in software testing, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Applied Math or Applied/Engineering Physics.
• 2+ years in applied math/physics for engineering projects.
• 1+ years software/systems testing experience.
• Familiarity with C++ and Linux environments.
• Strong requirements traceability skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
