Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, tie test cases to requirements, and collaborate with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

A BS in applied math/physics and some coding experience are required, with 1+ years in software testing. Active Secret Clearance is required, and you will work on-site five days per week.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code
  • Experience using Linux systems
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
  • Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
  • Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation
