Job summary

SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWC Dahlgren Division SLBM team in Dahlgren, VA. This full-time, on-site role designs test plans, develops automated tests, and ensures requirements traceability for government customers.

The ideal candidate holds an applied math/physics degree with 1+ years of software testing experience, is proficient with Linux, and familiar with C++ code. U.S. citizenship and on-site work are required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code
  • Experience using Linux systems
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
  • Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
  • Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation
