Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM testing team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, tying them to requirements while collaborating with developers and government customers.

The role requires 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ year in software testing, Linux experience, and strong communication. U.S. citizenship and on-site work five days a week are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math/physics experience in support of engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math/physics experience.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities.
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
