Job summary

SimVentions, consistently voted one of Virginia's Best Places to Work, is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join our SLBM team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. This full-time, on-base role develops test plans, executes manual and automated testing, and collaborates with developers and government customers to resolve software defects.

U.S. citizenship is required, as well as willingness to work five days/week on-site.

Qualifications

• BS in applied math or applied/engineering physics.
• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing or equivalent education.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to trace requirements to test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork with ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily.
