Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWC Dahlgren Division SLBM team on-site in Dahlgren, VA. The role focuses on designing test plans, executing manual and automated testing, and collaborating with government customers to resolve defects.

The ideal candidate holds an applied math or physics degree with 1+ years of software testing experience, strong Linux skills, and excellent communication. U.S.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of applied mathematics or applied physics experience in engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or related education; may coincide with math/physics work
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code
• Experience using Linux systems
• Demonstrated ability to document and resolve complex software issues
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
• Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements
• Execute manual and automated testing across static, dynamic, integration, and system levels
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and related tools
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation
