Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWC Dahlgren Division in Dahlgren, VA.

This full-time, on-base role designs test plans, executes manual and automated testing, and collaborates with developers and government customers to resolve software defects. The ideal candidate has a BS in applied math or physics, 1+ years in software testing, proficiency in test automation and Linux, strong requirements traceability, and excellent communication

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in applied mathematics or physics on engineering projects.
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing or related education.
  • Familiarity with reviewing C++ code and Linux environments.
  • Strong requirements traceability and ability to communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
  • Execute manual and automated testing across static, dynamic, integration, and system levels.
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
  • Interface professionally with government customers daily.
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
