Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join our NSWCDD Dahlgren-based SLBM testing team. Responsibilities include designing automated test scripts, writing test plans, and performing both manual and automated testing across multiple levels, with daily interaction with government customers.

The role requires a BS in Applied Math or Applied/Engineering Physics, 2+ years in related fields, and on-site work at NSWC-Dahlgren with a Secret clearance or eligibility.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience.
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code
  • Experience using Linux systems
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
  • Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
  • Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation
