Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a payroll processor responsible for ensuring accurate, timely payroll submissions in compliance with federal regulations and college policies.

The role requires an associate degree and payroll experience, with strong Microsoft Office skills and attention to detail. You will support timekeeping systems and collaborate with divisions to resolve payroll issues, delivering ad hoc reports as needed.

Job description

Class Description

The purpose of this position is to ensure the accurate and timely processing and submission of payroll in compliance with federal regulations and College policies.

Minimum Requirements

Associate degree and three (3) years of finance or payroll experience; knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications and financial management systems. APA Professional Payroll certification preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties
  1. Provide oversight to the accurate and timely submission of the College’s payroll; respond to employee inquiries.
  2. Provide technical support and guidance to Specialists.
  3. Act as liaison between payroll and divisions in all payroll-related issues.
  4. Create ad hoc financial reports, as necessary.
  5. Verify coding and authorization of all source documents in accordance with accounting principles and College policy.
  6. Audit payroll processes prior to submission of payroll.
  7. Perform duties of specialists, as required.

Position Specific Essential Duties
  1. Coordinate the TimeClockPlus timekeeping process (i.e., oversee timekeeping errors, train end users, troubleshoot system issues).
  2. Update security profiles for TimeClockPlus timekeeping system.
  3. Act as liaison between IT, Payroll and TimeClockPlus consultant in implementation of automated timekeeping system for part time employees.

The Hartford: Individual or Family Coverage. Employee pays a rate in multiples of $10,000 to a maximum of $300,000.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.
