Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks Adjunct Teacher Education faculty to teach Child Care Provider classes at the Community College of Baltimore County. Responsibilities include course development, instruction delivery, and monitoring student performance. A Master’s degree in education-related field and at least five years of teaching experience are required, with a preference for applicants with college teaching experience.

Job description

Class Description

Adjunct Teacher Education faculty are needed to teach Child Care Provider / Preparation for Maryland Credentialing classes at the Community College of Baltimore County.

Classes may be delivered in-person during the day, remotely via synchronous evening sessions, or 100% online through CCBC’s learning management system.

Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in education‑related field required.
  • Five (5) years of teaching experience in licensed childcare and/or PK‑5 setting required; college teaching experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Maryland childcare regulations required. Working knowledge of the Maryland childcare credential program preferred.
  • Successful completion of an MSDE/Office of Childcare‑approved “train the trainer” session preferred.
  • Proficient working with learning management systems.
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft applications knowledge.
Class Specific Essential Duties
  • Fulfill department and college responsibilities as directed by the department chairperson and/or coordinators.
  • Use CCBC common course outline to develop course syllabus; prepare and deliver course instruction while adhering to college and department policies.
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Utilize the CCBC learning management system.
  • Monitor student participation and performance, evaluate student work, and provide timely feedback.
  • Keep and submit accurate classroom records.
  • Assure that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assess established course objectives in a consistent and equitable manner.
  • Provide one office hour each week per class taught.
  • Attend required training sessions, professional development, and departmental meetings.
  • Abide by college-wide policies and procedures.

Tuition Assistance

Eligible full‑time employees may qualify for waiver or reimbursement programs.
