Job summary

Fashion Island Surgery Center is seeking a detail-oriented Per Diem Surgery Scheduler to support our ambulatory facility in Newport Beach. You will coordinate surgical procedures, verify documentation, and communicate with physicians' offices and patients to ensure smooth scheduling and patient flow.

Responsibilities include aligning surgeon availability with OR resources, handling insurance authorizations, preoperative clearance, and maintaining accurate records in the scheduling system while

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of surgery scheduling experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance authorization processes.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures in accordance with surgeon availability, facility resources, and patient preferences.
• Coordinate surgery dates and times with physicians, anesthesia providers, and operating room personnel.
• Verify receipt of required documentation, including: History and Physical (H&P).
• Insurance authorizations.
• Preoperative clearance and testing results.
• Communicate preoperative instructions to patients as directed.
• Maintain accurate scheduling records in the electronic health record and/or scheduling system.
• Confirm procedure details, implant requests, and special equipment needs.
• Coordinate schedule changes, cancellations, and additions as needed.
• Work closely with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow and operating room utilization.
• Ensure confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with front office and administrative duties as assigned.
