Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Clinical Practice Assistant Lead for the Ambulatory Float Pool. The role supports short-staffed departments with 90‑day assignments and trains staff in MA skills competency.

You will provide patient services, check‑in, scheduling and medical assisting while ensuring quality flow and service delivery. This position reports to the manager and collaborates with physicians and nurses.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years related work experience required.
• MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting.
• Phlebotomy certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients and staff by phone and in person, providing courteous, helpful information.
• Takes complete and accurate information from patients, prioritizes and communicates to providers.
• Performs check-in, registration, and verification of demographic and fiscal information.
• Ensures patient records and images are available with proper identification for productive encounters.
• Assists providers and may perform phlebotomy, EKGs, vital signs and basic tests.
• Serves as a mentor, trainer and resource; oversees others and seeks feedback to improve processes.
• Monitors patient flow and acts as liaison to optimize service delivery.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests; handles authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
• Assembles records per policy; handles requests for patient information per guidelines.
