Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Medical assisting experience through MA, CNA, EMT or PCT certificates.
• Current or former nursing/medical student with at least one clinical rotation.
• Completion of BIDMC in-house competency program (2019).
• Completion of Northeastern Basic Clinical Skills course.
• Basic familiarity with computers and web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and routine procedures.
• Keeps patient care areas clean, stocked, and ready for use.
• Escorts patients to radiology and lab as needed.
• Monitors and maintains medical equipment and supplies.
• Reviews medication lists in the EMR for final review by licensed staff.
• Queues prescription renewals in the EMR and documents tasks for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests and verifies insurance information.
• Explains processes to help patients meet insurance requirements.
