Cengage Group seeks an Software Engineering Manager to lead a team building tools for our CLP. You will collaborate with product and design, defining an AI-first roadmap to improve accessibility and outcomes.

You will drive POM Discovery with both internal and external partners, manage backlogs and budgets, and stay ahead of emerging tech with a focus on secure, scalable enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field
• 2+ years of technology leadership experience
• Hands-on Java development (5+ years)
• Hands-on React or front-end (5+ years)
• Strong cross-functional collaboration in distributed, remote-first environments
• Clear communication to executives and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Reimagine and optimize software delivery processes using modern tools, automation, and generative AI.
• Engage in driving POM Discovery activities including continuous customer engagement to meet goals.
• Track quality and efficiency improvements through well instrumented SDLC tools and report progress to executives.
• Balance technical debt and new feature development within each sprint.
• Work with partners and customers to establish and handle product backlogs, estimates and budgets.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and inject continuous innovation into roadmaps.
