Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to build internal AI capabilities across HDR’s Transportation Business Group.

The role starts with internal solution development, data foundations, and bottleneck removal, then expands to client-facing AI delivery and advisory work as capabilities mature. You will design and deploy AI solutions (document intelligence, predictive analytics, copilots), build reusable data pipelines, and oversee full model lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience with data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, Power Query and Pandas.
• Minimum 3 years experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn and Matplotlib.
• Minimum 3 years experience with data science languages such as Python and R.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented with multitasking ability.
• Ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions addressing internal transportation business needs.
• Build reusable AI components, data pipelines, and scalable workflows.
• Manage full model lifecycle including development, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining and inference.
• Identify data, system, tooling, governance bottlenecks and partner to implement improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into AI solutions and communicate concepts clearly.
• Support client pursuits and pilot projects as capabilities mature.
