Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to build internal AI capabilities within HDR’s Transportation Business Group, focusing on data foundations and bottleneck removal.

The role will progressively transition to client-facing AI delivery as capabilities mature. Responsibilities include designing, deploying, and scaling AI solutions, building reusable components and data pipelines, and managing end-to-end model lifecycles while partnering with IT and stakeholders to drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3 years experience with data engineering tools and languages (SQL, Power Query, Pandas).
• Minimum of 3 years experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib).
• Minimum of 3 years experience with data science languages (Python and R).
• Strong writing and communication skills; ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions addressing internal transportation business needs (e.g., document intelligence, predictive analytics, copilots, workflow automation).
• Build reusable AI components, data pipelines, and workflows scalable for future client delivery.
• Manage full model lifecycle including development, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining, and inference.
• Collaborate with IT, data architects, and stakeholders to identify bottlenecks and recommend scalable improvements.
• Communicate AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
